How can I move from nightly (dev) builds to stable (and vice versa)?

If you configured the nightly (dev) repository following the instructions at http://packages.ntop.org and installed the dev packages, but you want to move to the stable packages, what you need to do is:

  • Remove all the ntop packages, for example on Ubuntu you need to run:
    • apt-get remove ndpi pfring-dkms pfring-drivers-zc-dkms nprobe ntopng ntopng-data n2disk cento
  • Remove all the dependencies, if any:
    • apt-get autoremove
  • Remove the repository package (remember, you installed apt-ntop.deb)
    • apt-get remove apt-ntop
  • Configure the stable repository following the instructions at http://packages.ntop.org
  • Reinstall the ntop packages for the applications you need

Instead, if you configured the stable repository, and you want to move to the nightly (dev) repository, you can follow similar instructions, with the only difference that you need to remove apt-ntop-stable in the 3rd step.
